Video Files Saved To HD from XP Media Center How Can I Convert To MPG or AVI for DVD Burning

I'm using XP Media Center to record NFL football to my HD. Would like to be able to convert this format to MPG or AVI so that I can burn to DVD. Anyone have any idea what conversion software I can use to accomplish this? Your help and advice would be appreciated.
