Ace Mega Codecs problem! Please help!

Hi there! I am in serious need for help here. I am having trouble with the Ace Mega Codecs that is in my laptop, I installed it about six and a half months ago. Allow me to explain:

1) The Reclock software is preventing me from burning my videos into my DVDs, I just noticed this about a month ago when I tried to made my first video since I installed the codec. I can burn the videos as data but I cannot transform them into movies.

2) When I click on the Ace Mega Codec shortcut icon so that I may modify the way it works, it won't save the new parameters. And if I press on the repair button, the software will run but it will not repair anything, even if I wait for over 10 minutes.

3) I have tried to reinstall the software, everything works normally until I get to the part where the software reconfigures the Dashboard. It freezes there and will not progress any further no matter how long I wait. I have waited up to half an hour... I even have trouble deinstalling the codec! For the deinstalling to work, I have to reboot my computer, go into the program files, delete the Dashboard folder and then use the deinstallation program... But then I find myself unable to watch the mkv, ogg, etc. files.

So can someone help me, please? If you think it is better that I take the whole codec out, can you guide me in how to do it correctly? And can you advise me on another software to play these files? Thank you inadvance everyone for your help!

Best thing is to get rid of that piece of junk. Try the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack instead.

Well, I was considering using it until a friend told me about the CCCP. So I do not know which one is the best. He showed it to me in Wikipedia. By the way, any advice on how to completely get rid of this software? Thanks in advance!

Usually you can fix uninstallation problems by installing the application a second time. That often restores missing components that caused the uninstaller to fail.

CCCP is a small pack, very similar to the Standard edition of the K-Lite Codec Pack. It will play most stuff, but not everything. It also doesn't have any encoding support. So if you need that, or if you also want to be able to play QuickTime and RealMedia files, then use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

Thanks for answering again. I have tried multiple times to reinstall the Ace mega codec pack in the last two weeks. It usually stalls during the reconfiguration of the dashboard. Anyway, with this software on, sometimes my windows explorer is automotically closed when I encounter Avi files or a few others. I have to admit that this is wearing me out. I will try to deinstall the software and use K-lite mega pack. Thanks again!

A temporary solution for this problem is Windows XP AVI Fix
