i have downloaded Real Alternative v1.5.
While i tried to install I was told to run the set up with the command line parameter -MakeUnattended to create an unattended set up.
But how do I create an unattended set up?
I am running windows xp with sp2.
Any suggestion willbe of great help to me.
Thanks.

You can just run the install.

Unattended installation is optional. It is to create an installation which doesn't require any interactions. To be used on an unattended Windows install cd.

When I did as you said I got the following message :

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rmoc3260.dll

Unable to register the DLL\OCX : DllRegister Server faliled; code ox80004005.
Unspecified error.

Click Retry to try again, ignore to proceed anyway (not recommended), or Abort to cancell installation.

I went and proceeded to install.

Now start up menu shows Real Alternate. No start up Icon.
But when I go through start up it goed this way:

Start> All programs>Real alternative>Configuration>Real Media

When I click Real Media I get Set up Real Media Settings
After applying nothing happens, in short I cannot open Real Alternate.
What to do now?
Thanks.

You installed the right version of the program for your O.S.?
1.51 is latest version to work with WIN XP which has an Windows (MSI) installer so no need for command line parameters.

Nothing should happen. It just changes the settings.

It uses InnoSetup, not MSI.

But how do I use/access Real Alternative.
After installation I was presented with another exe. set up file for setting.
There is no way I can use Real Alternate to play anything for me.
Please suggest a way to play Real Alternative.
Regards.

Step 1: Start your favorite player (for example Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player).
Step 2: Open a RealMedia file.

Sorry to trouble you again.
I hope you understand that I am complete newbie.
Both Real Alternatefile that I have are .exe files.
How would they help me as they are in program folder.
Do i have to download media player classic to use Real Alternate.
In that case I will download Media player classic.
Regards.

Just play thr .RAM, RM, RMBB (Real media files) with your fav directshow player
i.e. MediaPlayer Classix, BS player, Zoom player etc.

Some of aforementioned are popular since they support directshow plugins and have smaller memory fingerprint than other players.
