I recently downloaded some anime episodes. Like most anime they have the codecs used for encoding typped on the file name in brackets. The file name was: [zw]_dot_Hack_Roots_01_(1280x720_h264_Vorbis)_[CRC]
I use the latest ffdshow, matroska splitter and VSfilter( I play the files with zoom player). I have video, I have audio, I have subtitles BUT the timing between the video and audio is always off
. What could be the problem?

You could try installing the Vobis codec pack (http://vorbis.com). Or installing a codec compilation like Ace Super Codec Mega Pack, or CCCP (which is mostly used for anime).

I've already tried the cccp codec pack and it's no good. Using the cccp I experience problems whith other video files too... The combination of ffdshow and matroska splitter was ideal for me till I downloaded the file I told you
