DScaler5 works, but NVIDIA PureDecoder doesnt....

I recently bought Windows Media Centre 2005 for my pc to replace Windows XP Home, and when I installed the trial version of the nvidia pure decoder, there was horrible interference all over the screen. I uninstalled it, then tried the free DScaler5 decoder, which works fine.

Why could this be? I know it works and I should be happy, but the nvidia will be a much better quality and support true surround sound?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
