Set Default Codec for MP2.. Big Probs

Hi all, I have a Sony SR100 which is a bit screwy... Anyways, it is a harddrive based camera using mpeg2 files. I have loads of mp2 decoders on the system, the only thing is windows media player keeps using a codec from Roxio. I download one of the mp2 codec/decoder from this sight and want to use it (dscaler).

I tried microsofts "Microsoft Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility" which allows you to set a prefered codec, but no deal. Everytime media player plays those files it is using Roxio!

Any fix? Watching the video are not synced and other applications like premier are failing when importing the mpeg files.
