Hi

I am new here, First post smile.gif

My problem is simple, but is rather annoying. A few places i posted this question, but no one has the answer.
I am using K lite codec packs.
Windows 2000 serv pack 4
Creative labs Aud. 2 zs
Klipsch Ultra 5.1

Volume on WAVE keeps reducing to 50% when simply clicking , not even opening a video file. So I can click it once and check Wave its at 50%! THen i put it back to 100%. Its annoying. Watching videos at only 50% volume on wave stinks.
What can i do?
I believe i have all the creative drivers, garsh they make WAY too many updates ...thats also annoying.

Thanks very much

Hi smile.gif

Well, maybe a (multimedia) program has the control over your WaveOut.
Can be Winamp, Win.Media Player, other video/audio player, etc. you've installed.
So check out these programs' settings, look for option "audio", "output" or sg. like these. Then set the program(s) not to use waveout.

Is volume lowering in a specific application? Check Windows Volume controls. Make sure slider on WAV/MP3 channel and master volumes are set 98-100%. Make sure mic /line input are set on mute if don't use them.

Try running Creative diagnostics.

Thanks thats what i thought, but I didn't know what waveout is the answer! wow OK lets see what happens now that I changed all my players. But how do you change windows media player? i think it occurs in there when inside a window when the preview thingy pops up, wave sound vol goes down!

Oh Mischcabob thanks for pitching in too. I also did diagnostics , all PASS! wave is set 100% but does reset itself to 50%
MAIN is 77% cause I am using Ultras, don't need to blow the amplifier,..as recommended by Klipsch..

EDIT: Ok the problem still exists. Maybe windows media player is problem?

Ok what does Wave volume by definition mean? why is there main and wave? whats the difference? Thanks for all the help!

Hi,

I think the matter is in your codecs. I had been using all of codecs too, and had many problems with sound and with video too... So, no I use just DVX codecs, they play all video and audio files without problem...
Just try remove all these codecs and install DIVX Gain Bundle 5.1...

Now then, in WMP, can change audio settings under Tools->Options, Devices tab, Speakers/Settings.
Under Modules tab, have any integrated Audio/Other DSP? Then try to change/remove them.

Also verify properties under Windows Control Panel/Multimedia/Audio when you haven't made this yet.

Codec packs' settings can effect too... well, can remove K-Lite c.pack temporarily... to see if anything changes.

BTW, what player do you use for video playback? And does this problem appear when only playing an mp3 in Winamp, for example? Do you have Winamp installed?

Ok i fixed the problem! i needed 3 days to make sure it was "fixed"
umm i had to remove klite codec pack and then install Klite MEGA codec pack.
For some reason every month+ the codecs go wacky..Are they programmed to expire??
Thanks you guys/gals biggrin.gif
