TalkingSoft.com Forums: WMP 10 or 11 - no sound on wmv files - help - TalkingSoft.com Forums

Hi, I'm new to this group & see that others have posted the same problem over the last few months, but have tried all fixes to no avail.
I've been using WMP 10, no problems at all with it. I downloaded some avi. files & since they wouldn't play, I found this site & downloaded the Windows XP codec package. Avi files worked then, but on certain sites I get no sound with the WMV file. I have troubleshooted with the effected web-site techs & they seem to think I got a corrupted file somehow. It works with some videos, but evidently the problem is only if it is a WMV file. I un-installed the codecs pack, upgraded to WMP 11 & same problem. I rolled back to WMP 10 & still the same problem. I've reloaded my soundboard drives & tweaked a couple of other things, but still no fix. Everything looks fine, all the boxes are checked that need to be, etc.
If anyone can help, or point me to a fix, I'd be eternally grateful. If the fix is un-installing codes, I already did that on the pack downloaded from this site & can't find any other ones to do that to.
