I recommend Matroska Pack and Ogg Direct Show Filters 0.9.9.6 all of which can be downloaded at www.Free-Codecs.com. I have tried other codec packs but they don't work-can't play my video files uninstall is horrible. By the way I like Matroska pack and the ogg filters because of the fact that they work with Windows Media Player. I have Windows Media Player 11. I have the Ogg filters because I need .ogm and .ogg support which Matroska pack does not include. Install is easy and uninstall is easy as well for Matroska Pack but for ogg uninstall it does leave like 3 files in windows folder but not really a problem. You should install Matroska Pack first and then the Ogg filters. I can play all my .wma, .wmv, .avi, .mp3, .asf, .mpeg, .mkv, .mka, .ogg, .ogm just fine. I have downloaded lots of media files and they all work fine. I have used this above codecs on a 2000 Dell Dimension XPSB933 and a brand new custom computer I built myself all with Windows XP SP2. Work just the same. One error which I have the solution I think. If you have Nero OEM suite 3 don't install the avi portion of haali media splitter and disable raw video. That is all for now.

This is a very bad recommendation.
OggDS 0.9.9.6 is very buggy. Version 0.9.9.5 is better.
Matroska Pack is outdated.

Ogg direct show filters is not buggy at all. It plays .ogg vorbis files fine. It plays .ogm files fine. I have downloaded anime that has two languages in .ogm format and I was able to hear both languages and video playback was fine. When I tried to use radlight there was no option for the 2nd language. In the K-lite mega codec pack playing .ogm files with their .ogm codec produced weird video playback frames were advancing weirdly. Matroska pack maybe outdated, but I everything I download, anime, movies, music, it plays it as long as it is .asf, .wmv, .wma, .mp3, .avi, .mkv, .mka, .ogg, .ogm on Windows Media Player 11. I even reencode videos and it plays them better then some other codec packs. I am making this recommendation after long use of the codec pack/filter and testing of some for example ace mega codec pack, k-lite mega codec pack, gordian knot codec pack. I really don't see the big deal with K-lite codec pack and media player classic. I don't even like them at all.
