Hi,
Recently, I started having a serious problem with some of my *.mpg video clips. WMP 10 will report the length of the clip less than the actual length, even then it will play the full clip.
This also happens with other players except of VLC which is the only player will report the correct length of the clip.
I checked the clips with GSpot and it reported the correct length also.
I think this is some kind of codec or OS-based problem. Like I said, this just started recently- these files used to play fine and still play fine in any other PC. I uninstalled all my codecs and reinstalled them, but it didn't make any difference.
This doesn't happen with AVI files, just with certain MPEG-1 files,
Any ideas?
Thanks

I don't know much about codecs, but you could try one of these options, or wait for someone smarter then me on this subject.
1. Maybe try to use differnt codecs. The only one I've used/use is the All in one Kazza Codec pack... it seems to work good for me...
2. If the codecs worked before, try uninstalling them and donwloading them again, and reinstalling them...maybe somehow there is a error with the codec that just started for no apparent reason.
3. Save all of your info, setup files, and movies/music you have downloaded and burn them on a backup CD. Format your HD, and try to reinstall Windows again. (Solved many a problems this way...)
If 1 and 2 don't work you might want to wait for someone smarter then me about codecs to tell you more before you try my 3rd idea...

Likely an anomoly with codecs and media player failing recognize part of the file. If there any bad frames or VBR audio.. for example.
VLC and GSPOT both have built-in codecs so not surprised. The MPG files still play properly, right? So wouldn't worry too much.
