Problem withFFdshow codec Reversed image

Hi everyone. I am new to the forums and I`m having a rather weird issue after installing the FFdshow codec. I had to install it because a DVD rip of Assault on Precint 13 (the original Carpenter version) required the h264 codec to work. I downloaded it first and run it but all I got was a DOS box that appeared and disappered really quick (no apparent text that I could see). I tried the video anyway but it still would not work so I installed the FFdshow codec. Now when I try to play that video with the DivX Player the image is inverted, the titles are mirror images and the movie itself is upside down (other than that the image quality, brightness and color are fine). Other players (I tried WMP 11, Winamp 5 and VLC) show it properly but it`s extremely dark and almost in black and white. The only player that worked before installing the codecs was VLC, but it was still dark and colorless. I have tried other videos after installing the codecs and they all seem to work fine. I have Windows XP Home SP2 fully updated. Thanks in advance.

You should update your graphics card drivers.

Use a recent ffdshow build from this site:

I already have the latest Nvidia drivers, 93.71. I just downloaded ffdshow the other day from Free Codecs but I will try the link you gave anyway... I`ll report if it worked

I have just installed it. Still the same thing, inverted image on the DivX Player, otherwise excellent quality, extremely dark and almost black and white in other players (VLC, WMP 11 and Winamp) but the image is not inverted. Any other ideas? Maybe some settings in the ffdshow configuration screen I can change? blink.gif

It can probably be fixed with some changes in the nVidia control panel.

Have a look here, at the middle of the page there are some tips for correcting the nVidia settings:
QUOTE
- Go to your graphics card control panel. Reset all settings to their default values. Important settings are Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and Gamma. You can access the control panel via: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced.
- Go to your graphics card control panel. Select the "Color Correction" page. Select "All" in the dropdown box called "Apply color changes to:". Then click on the button called "Restore Defaults".
- Go to your graphics card control panel. Open the "video and television" options. (You need to be in the advanced view). Select "adjust video colour settings", then select "correction". Hit "do not use colour temperature correction".
- If resetting the settings does not help, then find an older version of the drivers (for example v84.21). Uninstall your current drivers, reboot, and install the older ones.

The only problem that remains is the inverted video for Assault on Precint 13 using the DivX player, but since I looks fine with other players now that`s not so much of an issue (it`s weird though)
