how to play a mp4 in real player or media player. codecs?

i have windows media player, real player, vlc player, media player classic. of all the four i prefer real player.

how do i play an MP4 movie in real player. what codec do i need? if i cant how about windows media player, how do i get it to play on that? it works on vlc but i hate that thing!

please send links of what i need to download.

PS: is real player he best out of the othrs? shall i delete the other softwares?
