Hi!

Is there a DivX codec download, without the player, EKG, DrDivx, trial versions of other divx software, google toolbar, google desktop etc ?
I just need the codec.

That is only for encoding , it says : Therefore this is for encoding only, not for playback.

Of course and i'm see in first post:

For playback You need DirectShow filter (with or without codec).
Look at DivX Media Codec and DivX Media Format Filters.

Why don't use just ffdshow?

playing divx video means decoding it.

But...
You can used VfW codec to compress and decompress video, example in VirtualDub (indeed, VfW codecs is required by VD).
Yau can play (decode) video used DirectShow filter, but can't compress (code) (exclude DMO codecs from MS).
Most DirectShow filters it's not codecs (can't compress).

Normally DivX, Xvid and most other codecs distribution include DirectShow filter and VfW codec.

WMP (in most cases) and more other players just used DirectShow filters, not codecs.

Please try ffdshow filter (not only for DivX video).
