For the last little while I have been playing with compiling an XviD release based on the CVS tarballs. It took me a while to figure it out but I have it down now. This release includes both the VFW encoder and DirectShow decoder and comes in an EXE installer that creates config shortcuts for both. Also included is a complete uninstaller should there be any problems. If anyone would like to try the first new XviD release of 2008 then I would be curious to know how my compile stacks up. Please uninstall any previous XviD releases from your system before installing this one. Based on the XviD 1.2 code this release fully supports SMP systems.
XviD_1.2.127-10012008.exe
My previous compile has been posted on doom9.org for the last week with more than 100 downloads so far I've yet to have any complaints about broken features but please feel free to offer any feedback and I'll do my best to find out how to fix any broken features. At the very least I can post a new compile based on current tarball code. This new compile features new icons and a codec info link compared to the previous release which was based on the January 3rd tarball. On my Q6700 I'm averaging 140fps with AutoGK while doing DVD conversions. Please keep in mind that I am not a developer and that I have only compiled the CVS release available from Xvid.org for curiosity.
