Hi everyone.
Im having a big problem with encoding with Xvid after installing K-Lite.
I always used to install my own own codecs, xvid/divx etc and recently thought
i would try K-Lite Codec Pack. Now the size of any xvid that i encode comes out
too big or too small, and not by a small margin, if i select 700mb for the size it
may come out at 550mb or just as easily 850.
I have uninstalled K-Lite many many times, gone back to older version and used
the newer ones, also cleaned the registry on each fresh install. I have even tried
uninstalling K-Lite fully and cleaning the pc of all traces of it then installing only
Xvid yet the problem still persists... files too large or too small.
I dont understand how this has happened because i use Acronis True Image, so
you would think after putting my hardrive back to how it was (obvioutsly a good image)
before this happened it would fix the problem... but no its still there. The only thing i did
was install WMP11 and it seems it started after that, but as i stated i had an image
without that installed, its like it remembered it WAS installed.
Nevertheless you would think uninstalling K-Lite, cleaning the drive/registery and
installing Xvid all on its own that this problem would go away.
Divx 5.2.1 with Gordianknot give perfect sizes btw, but i prefer Xvid.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.

OK i think i found the answe myself after a lot of messing around.
I completely uninstalled K-Lite and GordianKnot and then cleaned the pc up of all traces, including registery.
Then i reinstalled Gordian Knot (it doesnt install any codecs) then installed K-Lite again and nothing whatsoever to do with Xvid, i left all those out. THEN i installed Auto Gordian Knot which installs the Xvid file... voila it worked (in Gordian Knot), now the file sizes are correct again.
How all this happened is a mystery to me and is still a bit of a mystery that this way worked.
So to anyone else out there with the same problem just do what i did and hopefully it'll stay fixed... I know i'll be too scared to install any newer updated versions of K-Lite again as im sure it'll all mess up.
Just to add to my speculation about this, im wondering if only certain Xvid versions will work with K-Lite, im pretty sure the one that comes with K-Lite Codec Pack 3.8.0 doesnt work properly... unless someone can shed some light on this, im not sure of the versions in K-Lite and the version in AutoGK.
