Hey all,
I'm still not sure if this is a codec or hardware problem. Just recently I've been getting choppy playbacks randomly with anything I watch. It's usually about 10-20 minutes into the video my FPS will drop down to 1 or less. The audio will still play and then after the 10 seconds it will rapidly play back all the frames that I missed until it catches back up to where it is suppose to be. I've uninstalled all my codecs and then reinstalled pretty much only the ones I need but I still get the random hangs. I also tried different video drivers and that didn't stop it either. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hi Woodstriker,
Please tell us a little more ...
1) What is the clip you are watching ... AVI, or what ?
2) What player are using? A Computer or a DVD Player?
- If a computer what software player are you using?
- If a DVD Player ... brand and model number and if you know Firmware version?

I'm using WMP 10 to watch some show episodes that I downloaded. Pretty much any type of video file will become choppy at some point while I'm watching it if it's long. Even flash movies. I actually just finished watching one episode and around 15 minutes in, the fps dropped low several times within a minute and then it went back to normal. If this helps any, I watch the shows in full screen. When the fps drop occurs, I usually have to rewind it a bit to see what I missed and even the WMP controls that appear when you move the mouse are affected by the low fps.

MIght be b.g task i.e. antivirus or something interrupting playback. Check/monitor processes and apps.
MAybe revert to older codec when things were working fine? That's where restore points can come in handy.

Hi folks,
I don't understand this Forum ... when I have subscriberd to a Thread ... for example this one .... why I do NOT get instant notification of a "Reply"!?!??! Oh Well!
@ Woodstriker: Try downloading "VLC Media Player 0.8.6f" ... it plays back anything and everything http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ For your OS (e.g. Windows)
