Hi, I play a lot of rmvb file which require real alternative or K-Lite codec pack. I knew I don't need real player to play this type of file, but I like to use Real Player because it has very easy to use, built-in to IE capture flv video function, allow me to download video with one click instead of open another software to record or capture.

The problem now is I can't keep Real Player because i had K-Lite codec pack installed. I want to know if there is anyway to fix this 2 software conflict or anyone can tell me what other flv capture software can do the same like Real Player to have IE plug-in so i can do right click download flv file, or just move my cursor over and do an one click download, thanks!

About Real Player: I have to say that I have ripped ALL Real software off of my machine because it causes havoc with numerous programs. It wrecked my codecs and necessitated a cleaning of the hard drive and an install of Vista Codec Pack. (You didn't mention what OS you're using.)

About K-Lite: Some people swear by it. I had catastrophic playback problems after installing it. Your Mileage May Vary.

I really enjoyed RealPlayer's ability to capture FLV's with a click. I'm right there with you on it. It's a nice pice of GUI, but the guts of the program are miserable as far as I'm concerned.

I hate to recommend this, but... I would advise uninstalling everything RealNetworks has put on your machine. You may find an improvement in performance. If you want to keep RealPlayer (*wince*) then I would suggest removing K-Lite and attempting another codec pack instead. Not every pack is going to work in every circumstance, as asdf so pointedly reminded me. I have found Vista Codec Pack to be satisfactory, but you may find something more to your liking/compatibility on codecs.com.

You may wish to consult Wikipedia which discusses alternatives: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rmvb

If you want to use RealPlayer, then you should only install the DirectShow component of Real Alternative, not the other components, because those should only be used when you don't use RealPlayer. The installer won't even allow you to do so when it detects RealPlayer, which it of course can only do if you install it after RealPlayer.

K-Lite Mega contains Real Alternative, so the above applies to that as well, the other versions don't contain RA.
