TalkingSoft.com Forums: Cannot see thumbnail for MPG files in XP - TalkingSoft.com Forums

I'm having trouble with creation of thumbnails for MPG files on my XP machine (no problem with AVI).
In particular, these are MPG files created by my Sony DVD Camcorder. It is a pain not being able to use the thumbnail view to see my video.
Is it just a matter of using the right codec? But I've spent months trying many different ones with no luck.
I can easily find codecs (common ones) that works for watching the files with players such as WMP or PowerDVD. But somehow, they can't generate the thumbnail view for these files.
