I'm sorry for asking a question that may have been answered before but here is my problem. And after searching in teh forum I am still unable to find a solution.
My codec knowledge is very limited. I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC running Vista Ultimate. I broadcast games for the Nashville Sounds (AAA Brewers) and I use Adobe Audition to edit highlights. I have an Alesis Multimix USB mixer as well and for some reason, the other day, the laptop stopped recognizing the mixing board when I plugged in the USB cable. I tried a new cable, no good and I tried the board on another laptop and it worked fine. I am able to use the USB ports for other things such as an external hard drive and a digital recorder, but not the mixing board.
When the board worked in the past it used USB Audio Codec as the playback and the recording default when the board was plugged in and now it won't do that. However, if I run 1/8 audio cables to the mic and speaker jacks AND plug in teh USB cable it will recognize it. If I just plug in teh audio cables and check for the playback or record default in Audition it tells me bad wavein. I believe the USB Audio codec is messed up but I have had no luck finding another. I have tried using it as a keyword in Google and on this forum to no avail. I don't want to keep using the mic and speaker jacks as the cables will eventually wear those out and I got the USB mixing board to avoid just that. I tried downloading Klite, no luck. Aftyer uninstalling Klite I downloaded the Vista Audio Codec pack but it won't let me install saying I need to log in as Administrator even though I am logged in as the admin.
I may be on teh completely wrong track but finding the usb audio codec is getting pretty frustrating.
Any help would be appreciated

Shark007 is the author of the Vista Codec Pack. His website is shark007.net, and he's a friendly guy. He will likely (I am having trouble remembering right now) have on his page a blurb about installation and Admin authorization. If he doesn't, and you still can't find the answer, send him a message. He can be found floating around here also and at the www.msfn.org boards.
