Hello!
I recently upgraded from a previous version of K-Lite Mega Codec to version 4.

Now, I can't play .SWF (Shockwave) files within Media Player Classic.

I haven't changed any drivers or other CODEC packages and I have also tried to re-install the Shockwave player without any success.

Anyone have any information or a solution about this behavior?

Hi!

Sadly, this seems to be happening today. Software houses introduce new versions before they've been properly tested. mad.gif

Even the mighty Opera introduced Opera 9.50 with a serious bug, first time in my memory, and I've been using Opera since the old days of Win 95 and Opera 5.12!

It sounds like a bug to me, so there is likely nothing you can do except uninstall and install an older one. I'm still using 1.6.7 and it works just fine! I do have the latest verion of shockwave, so it's not shockwave's fault.

RULE #1 of Computers:

Never go for the latest version until about 6 months have passed, and nobody has bitched! rolleyes.gif

I think it's here where I am called an "Extremely Newbie." That's rich, because I took my first course in computer programing in 1963, which is likely long before the guys and gals who run "TalkingSoft were even born! It's also a grammatical error! mf_laughbounce2.gif

Replace MPC with some older version and it might work. But the easiest way to view .swf files is to simply drag&drop them in a browser window.

Yes, it requires the Shockware ActiveX plugin.

Somewhat off-topic:
Is there anyway to install the Shockwave ActiveX plugin WITHOUT using Internet Explorer?

I don't want to crack open Internet Explorer if there is an alternative.

Just associate SWf or flash with a different app. i.e. Mozilla or a player like MPC.
