Hi, I have captured few videos via my PCTV Stereo TV Tuner Card.
The capture settings were
MPEG-1 (352x240) @ 1.15 Mbit/s
For a 3 mins 50 secs long video the size is 110 MBytes.
I'd like to compress them to smaller sizes keeping the video quality nearly the same. So I need some easy & FREE software (along with the best settings) which can do that for me. I'd prefer (not a necessity) a software which also allows me to cut several clips from the same video and join them together (and compress them too) to produce a smaller file.
Thanks
Sukhjinder...

I use just what you're looking for all the time. It's called "Ultra Video Joiner." But it can split files too. I have it set to produce DivX format AVI's, and they are quite small. It will do about any sort of video there is, including, surprize, surprize, VOB's! In fact the other day I BitTorrented a Mozart Video which contained 7 VOB's, each, as you know, some 1 GB. I ended up with a 400 MB AVI. You can also control the output size. I often cut 640X480's down to 320X240. It has a thing to raise or lower the volume too, although I have never used it, so I can't say how well it works.
It's not free, but if it is your style, you can find cracked versions on BT Sites. However, it's only some $30 US, I think, if you are of sterling character!
It has a companion called Ultra-FLV too. I use it to produce FLV's for the videos on my site. Excellent products, and worth the bucks!
