Hello,
I have installed Windows XP N edition, which is a European version that does not have windows media player and I can not play .wmv filles by default. So I downloaded and installed the Klite Codec Full with media player classic and still can not play any .wmv file. I also tried the codec installation package here from microsoft for wmp but it still doesnt work. These files work fine on machine that have windows media player 9-11 installed. Any idea which codec I need to install in order to play .wmv files? I dont want to have to install windows media player 10.

Windows Media Player 9 Series is no longer available for Windows XP anyway.
You got Windows Media Format 11 Runtime?

Change the association of Windows Media files to MEDIA Player Classic (MPC)and should be able to play files.
Note: Windows Media Format 11 Runtime requires Windows XP Service Pack 2.
