I installed the AC3 codec in order to be able to hear the audio portion of an avi file. I can now hear something, but the volume is soooo low I can't even make out what they are saying.
All my volume levels (that I know of) are set to the max. The WAV master is max. My computer is max. Everything else in the control panel - sounds - advanced tab are at max although I think WAV is the only one doing any control.
Other WAV file sound OK, but with all the volumes at max I would think they should be louder.
Windows sounds play very loud and I have to turn down the volume to not be blown out, so I don't think it is hardware.
What is my problem?
Thanks for your help

Did you configure output settings (i.e. 2.0/2.1/4.1/5.1) sound, bit rate and mixer controls? The gain and Dynamic Range Control (DRC) might be enabled so will affect the levels.
