I though I had some RM's but I can't find them if I do. But it seems to me that Media Player Classic, which comes with the K-Lite Codec pack will play RM's. Why stick to WMP, etc? MPC is a much better player than WMP anyway.

The other thing that you can do is convert them to say, AVI format. Everything will play an AVI! I must use my Video Converters more than any other app, except my HTML Editor, Wordpad! rolleyes.gif

There are lots of converters out there. Any good D/L Site such as SnapFiles has them, both free and pay for, and there are bags of them on BitToprrent Sites, such as btjunkie.org too. Converters do not destroy the original file, they just make a new one. So you needn't worry about that.

The above applies to RM's that you have aboard. Streamed RM's? First, who in his right mind would stream an RM in the first place? rofl.gif

Secondly, streamed audios and videos are not played using your computers software. The players are built into the site. I know this for a fact beause I stream audios and videos from my Site by the hundreds. They play on in-site players, not on your players. Look at YouTube. Their videos are FLV format, as are mine. Try and play an FLV in WMP. No go. And, being Microsoft, it refuses to have anything to do with outside codecs anyway, at least in my experience. MPC will play FLV's no problem. But still, YouTube Videos play on the YouTube Site, not on your players. (I even managed to swipe ... I mean, obtain their player once.)

Now maybe those who are streaming the RM's have fixed it so that the player has to be aboard the receiving computer. If so, you may have no choice but to get the Real Player and install it. I really doubt that this is a matter of codecs. I would consider this to be a con job to try to get you to get the stupid Real Player which has more ads on it than video, just like that ugly QuickTime Player. So my first reaction, being an ancient curmungeon, would be to advise them as to exactly where they can place their RM's!

Windows media and Real Media don't get along well since they are essentially competitive formats.
Try using Real Alternative (codec) along with MPC (Media Player Classic). peace.gif
