How to make MPC use quicktimealt280 codec for samr Audio

I have some vids from my mobile that don't play with audio from either VLC or MPC. I have used gspot and it says the audio is samr: AMR Narrowband. I have found that quicktime should play this, so I have installed quicktimealt280 but Media Player Classic still says no audio codec. Now my real question is, is there a way to make MPC use the quicktime audio codec ?. I REALLY REALLY don't want to install quicktime just to play the odd video from my mobile.
