Hello to all.
This is my first post, so please be gentle…!
I have several FLV music video files that I’d like to play with GOM Player. However I get no video or sound, and the codec search comes up empty.
Using Gspot, the codec details are as follows:
Video Codec: FLV4/VP62 (VP6F) Video Codec Name: Flash/On2 VP6 Video Codec Status: Undetermined
Audio Codec: MPEG-1 Layer 3 Audio Codec Status: Undetermined
When I run the codec solutions & tests (MS A/V) I get the message: Rendering failed: Following is the error reported by DirectShow: 0x80040265 [unknown]
I have installed the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (4.5.3), and configured the filters in all sorts of permutations and combinations, but no luck. I have even installed on2VP6 as a stand-alone, but still no go. I have checked and the audio codec is installed, so I should at least get sound (I have another FLV file that I get sound only, but Gspot can’t recognize the video codec.)
I am able to play all my FLV files in VLC player & FLVPlayer4Free, and I know the codecs are working, because I can now play FLV’s in Windows Media Player 11 without problem, but no matter what I do GOM player just won’t play them. Earlier versions refused to play the same files, but I thought by upgrading to the latest, that it would solve the problem, but no such luck.
I know that I can still play the files with other media players, but I prefer GOM Player’s interface and features, and I’ve spent so much time trolling the net trying to find solutions, that this has become a bit of a crusade for me.
So if anyone can help, I’d be most appreciative. The files are 35mb approx., so I can email them to anyone who’d like to see if they can get them to play with GOM Player on their system.
Many thanks in advance to all.
p.s. If GOM Player won’t play these files, then could someone please suggest the best multi-platform video conversion program, so that I can convert them to some other format, and get around the problem that way. I’d very much like to keep the same quality, because as you know FLV is not the best for quality, even when using the on2VP6 and not the Sorenson codec.
p.p.s. I’ve just noticed something. When I installed the K-Lite pack, it gave the option to create thumbnails for FLV files. It did so, for all but the ones that GOM Player won’t play. So perhaps it’s to do with the codecs (perhaps the wrong versions), and not GOM Player as such. If so, I’m not sure where to from here. I’ve installed the codecs that GSpot tells me I need, but still no go.

Gom not good player, I use him, choose the Zoom player or Media Player Classic and correct adjustment no problem with vollume or video.

Thanks for the reply. Found the problem. Forgot to uncheck GOM Player's internal FLV codec, so that it could make use of the one that I installed through KLite.
