Hi everyone,
I recently downloaded a video online. It says it is an hour and 20 minutes long however it will only play the first ~40 minutes or so. It will not play in Windows Media player because it says it needs a codec. It will play in Windows Media Player Classic but it is choppy. It plays well in BS.Player free.
In BS. Player free, it starts off indexing the video. It only gets around 60% done then it stops. As a result, it can only play the first 60% of the video. Basically, it says 40:26/1:14:00 which means it's 40 minutes in and the entire video is an hour and 14 minutes. However, the progress bar indicates the video has 5 minutes left and 5 minutes later, it stops playing.
I tried skipping to the next track but that didn't work (not sure if the file has chapters). When I skip to the next chapter, it just restarts the video.
I downloaded and installed the 3 in 1 codec but it still won't play in Windows Media Player. It is an .avi file.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Have you considered you didn't download the whole video?
Perhaps the download is truncated or corrupted.
