NEW DOWNLOADS NOT OPERATING QUICKTIMEALT AND REALALT NOT ACTIVATING

As recommended by PCWorld, I have downloaded QuickTime Alt 1.44 and RealAlt 1.34 and have installed both as directed by the Wizards. That includes in both cases designating them as the default for running appropriate items. Trouble is, it isn't happening! I click on an item to play it and there is no automatic activation and play. What is missing?
Thanks for your help.

Welcome.

These are simply freeware media codec packs so you will need a DirectShow player. Usually MediaPlayer Classic is bundled with it so suggest using that player.

There is no activation required. Just simply install it, necessary player and any browser plugins.

PS. don't post in caps since that is the equivalent as yelling. wink.gif

Yes, Media Player Classic is the Player for Real Media and QT files when using QTAlternative and RA.
File associations can be set in Media Player Classic (see this topic and tick the Real Audio, Real Media, Real Script files as well).
Also you can associate QT and Real files with MPC by right-clicking on file > Open with... > select Media Player Classic or browse for the path to the .exe .

Zoom Player or JetAudio work with Real Media and Quicktime files very well too.

It's just a matter of taste. biggrin.gif
