Hi, i was looking long time for good (and hopefully free) codec for AVCHD.
My friend recommended me free-codecs.com. I downloaded VLC and ffdshow.
VLC plays AVCHD but so choppy that it is useless - its more like slideshow :/ (Quad core 2.8GHz!!!).
FFdshow does choppy playback as well (not so choppy but useless anyway - especially on my HP laptop with core 2 duo 2.2GHz).
I could not find any other usefull software on free-codecs.com. i found on videohelp.com a player called Splash.
Never heard about it before but it does excellent playback of AVCHD.
i dont know much about this player, maybe it is just brand new but why is it missing on free-codecs.com?
i lost plenty of time to find it and i think many people would like to use it if its available on free-codecs.
btw. this is going to be commercial player i think but BETA version available at videohelp is free.
regards
Nitrouzz
