What causes this msg to appear when I am trying to play a rented DVD movie? How do I remove it?

Usually indicates bug in programming or not properly installed program.Sounds like something is corrupted.
Got latest WMP and windows updates? Make sure you update DVD player software or your MPEG2 decoder that you are using.
Hopefully not the copy protection or macrovision that is causing your woes.
Otherwise, use your standalone DVD player.
