Hi,
i have a number of films that i have encoded from MKV to MPG using MKV2vob, the majority play fine from my pc (spdiff output) to the amplifier, but some have hardcoded PCM codec in them, i have tried many codecs AC3 etc and cant seem to get them to play directly via the pc, if i play them via a HDMI cable (i.e) PS3 the sound is fine.
My question is, is there a codec that will combat the PCM encoding, or is there a unit that can connect the SPDIFF to a HDMI cable, i have seen them available with DVI input too, but as i have a cable from the monitor to the TV already i dont want to waste money and buy the same cable twice (if that makes sense) mine is a dvi to hdmi convertor, i gather you can buy a DVI SPDIFF to HDMI convertor but is there a SPDIFF to HDMI?
regards
Dale
