hello, i just found this website, and i registered because i really need help with my codecs. My situation is complicated, i hope that if anyone reads this, will be able to understand. I have just reinstalled my windows xp, and before the reinstallation i had the divx codec pack and everything worked just fine, with bs player and sm player, the two players i like to use. But now when i tried to install the divx codec pack only the divx player played my films correcly, the bs player and sm player didn't. And then i tried another way and installed codecs separately, but that didn't work either. Now after installing and trying a bunch of codecs and packs i couldn't get it to work, some films ( blue ray for instance) work in bs player and others don't, only in divx player. I tried to check codecs with gspot too, but it told me that everything is all right... oh and after i reinstalled i tried the vlc player, the one that is supposed to play back everything without codecs and it didn't, the films were stopping, and jumping and the sound was not good. Can anyone help me please? Why is that divx codecs only work for the divx player? What should i do ? thank you, i hope that someone will answer.

This may not work either, but you can give it a try anyway. Nothing to lose. Do you have a dedicated DVD player installed. This would give you the blueray codec required for playing back blueray discs or files. Blueray is a special codec.
Also remove all the players and codecs used until now. Restart, then edit the registry eliminating all references to DivX or other codecs or codec packs. Then restart again and install all codec packs or codecs, one-at-a-time. If installing DivX separately, use custom install (no player- just web player, splitters, and codecs.) Once again you may need a dedicated blueray codec. If so, this should be installed first.
