I had just finished working with Windows Movie Maker and had began using Windows DvD Maker when I wasn't able to get a .avi extension vid into my compilation. I looked it up, and as a result I ended up installing the K-lite Codec Pack.. Not knowing what to do with it, I uninstalled it. My DvD had finished Publishing (I no longer bothered with the video.avi), and I noticed that my movie was blank. I went back to Movie Maker and noticed that the parts that contained the scenes I put in were coming out plain black with no sound. I then decided to use system restore figuring that I had messed up with K-lite, nothing changed. I took a look at the files that I used to create the movie. They were all .mov extension. I download the G-Spot application and scanned it. It recognized the codec required as avc1. I followed the instruction on this site: http://mytechieself.blogspot.com/2005/12/h...ml#comment-form .. the part he indicates that should be changed was already as it should be for me. Now I am stuck, frustrated, and have a few days left for my project due. sad.gif.. Oh and Hi, I'm Pulpish! biggrin.gif

EDIT:
Ok I'm getting somewhere, I have video but no sound.. biggrin.gif

You need to reinstall the k-lite mega codec. AVC1 (MP4) is available in k-lite mega codec for encoding files. K-lite also has sorenson and basic quicktime mov files among a host of others. You'll need to configure the individual codecs you use for your personal tastes. There is ffdshow encode/decode, and about 8 or 9 others. May take some time, but it's worth the hassle.

You need to make a small configuration change in Movie Maker in order to be able to use ffdshow. It is explained here:

I checked everything, enabled everything... no result. I'm very sure its a codec problem since some files just show either audio or video but those are lower priority. Also I am able to view files with other players. I dunno.. Hit me back genius smile.gif
