I've downloaded the latest version and installed it onto my system running Win 7. However, I'm very disappointed to see that the software is incredibly unstable. Every time I try to scroll the video file to a different segment, Media Player Classic would crash most of the time. I have used the full installation, give or take a few changed options during the setup.

I don't think this is a common problem. So it might be related to some specific settings or drivers that you are using.

Thats the strange thing, as far as I can recall, the installation settings are completely the same as the previous version which I replaced with this. I didn't change any drivers or install any other software.
And its incredibly unstable compared to the old version. More than half of the video files I try to view, crash immediately on startup. They can only be played if I retry on the file 2 or 3 times ... and when they do, I can't jump to any point in the video as that will guarantee crashing it.

You might have more luck with the older version of MPC-HC that is included in the pack. Or change the video renderer in: options > playback > output.
What kind of videos are you having trouble with? avi, flv, mp4, mkv?

I've redownloaded & reinstalled the software, this time leaving all the settings on default (Lots of stuff) and the crashes still keep coming. Its generally unstable for all videos I've tested so far, but significantly more unstable for codec videos like DivX & MKV when compared to AVI or MPEG files. Those videos can't even start sometimes.

Does the instability only occur with Media Player Classic? If so, the pack contains two versions, so you should try the older 1.2.1008 version.
It is possible the problems are caused by something else that you have installed. Use the codec tweak tool to generate a list of all installed directshow filters. Post that list here so that we can have a look at it to see if there are any bad filters installed.
Did you recently update your graphics and/or sound drivers? If so, the problems also may be related to that.

Thanks, that fixed the problem. The old version is definitely rock solid stable on Windows 7. There are now no crashes at all in the past 3 weeks after reinstalling with the old MPC version.QUOTE

Nope, none of that happened. The only thing I changed was a newer version of K-Lite and chose the latest MPC to be installed which was the start of the problems.
