Hi

I have a problem with screen tearing, but first here is my pc specs.

Asus p5q3 deluxe wifi
Ati 4870 1 gb ram ( catalyst controle center )
4 gb ddr 3 - 1600 ram corsair
700 w psu zalman
1 tb Hdd Samsung
Intel 3.16 ghz duo ( clock 3.8 ghz )
dual boot Vista 32 and win xp 32

Installed K-lite full mode:

When i play a movie in fullscreen with windows media player or vlc or winamp, then i get screen tearing
in some scenes with alot of motion. Mostly action scenes or when the camera follows a person or object.
Then there is a line in the top of the movie were it looks like the screen gets devidet in 2 parts.

If i play the same movie in Media player classic, then there is no Screen tearing at all.
So why do this only apply to wmp , vlc and winamp ?

The strange thing is that in win xp using K lite latest pack, then i can use any player and there is no Screen tearing there at all.

I have updated every driver and even tryed to reinstall OS.
Even other codec packs dident help.

I have tested my gfx card in a friends pc running win 7 and there was no screen tearing, so the card is not broken.

In catalyst controle center i tryed to enable and disable some options, only making the screen tearing less visibel, not 100 % gone.

I know this has something to do with the picture and sync rate or something like that.
But how can i make wmp working with no screen tearing like wmp classic ?

Did the friends pc have the same specs as yours
Intel 3.16 ghz duo ( clock 3.8 ghz )

The upclocked processor might be the problem. Generally processors do not like overclocking indicated by the 3.16 ghz with clock of 3.8 ghz. Try using the same clock frequency and see if your problem disappears. Also try turning off the hardware acceleration if it is on.
