Hi.
I've been using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack for a long time and I never had problems with it. But ever since I installed it on a new PC, an annoying glitch keeps occuring, despite everything I've tried (and yes, I've looked the FAQs section and at a great number of forums too).
Every video file that I play suddenly accelerates for a very short moment. It does not skip frames, just goes on fast forward; it skips sound, but sound doesn't go out of sync. This randomly happens no matter if it's a video clip, movie or anime file, no matter its extension or the codec used to generate said file. Also it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the version of the K-Lite package, as it stayed the same ever since summer 2009.
I'm not sure what other details I should provide about the PC, other than the fact that I'm using WinXP updated (DirectX included), GForce 275 in SLI configuration on an Asus NForce chipset and Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi. I have no other sound or video problems whatsoever; in fact, I don't have any sort of problems period, except this one.
Any help would be much appreciated - thank you in advance.

Changing the video renderer in MPC options may help.

I'm presuming you're refering to Media Player Classic's Options/Output section, which has 10 alternatives (the current one is Overlay Mixer, default, I've never changed it until now). If yes, what option should I choose? If no, then what are you refering to (use a step-by-step approach, it's amaizng how much time it saves

Well, Overlay Mixer is the recommended one for XP. Just try the other ones to see if it makes any difference. If it doesn't then just go back to using Overlay.
How often does the speedup occur? Every few seconds, once a minute, or less often?
Version 5.7.0 of the pack was released today. Maybe updating it will help as well. It is also recommended to keep your graphics and chipset drivers up-to-date, as buggy drivers are often the cause of this kind of playback problems.

It occurs less often, maybe every 10 minutes or so, but no regular timing is discernable. However, it occurs at least once in video clips, which are far shorter than 10 mins., so...
Every driver (graphics, chipset, sound and whatever else you may think of) is up-to-date, as I already mentioned. Haven't yet tried version 5.7.0, but the glitch persisted so far through countless versions of drivers and K-Lite versions, so I'm not very optimistic.
Will see how it goes with different renderers, at least this is something I haven't tried before.
