Help
I am unable to install LAME on VISTA 32 bit.
Downloaded zip file, extracted ...
The instructions everywhere talk about 'right click Lame.inf file and select install.
There is no .inf file ... there are 2 files with title LAME ... the executable and a LAME.css file
None of which have option to install ..
I have tried using Administrator account, still the same.
The stupid thing is I had this problem previously, and found an alternative LAME pack that would install, but have since rebuilt my PC so need to install again, and can't remember where I got other pack from

I found the answer ... which may be of use to others .. the standard codec pack would not install.
i.e pack on codecs.com
I used the reduced file set on
http://rarewares.org/mp3-lame-dshow-acm.php
that did allow right-click install (when administrator)

They are both listed: LAME ACM Codec and LAME DirectShow Filter
what is the difference ? .............. I need the LAME codec for use in VirtualDub .... the former did not give me any 'install option' ...i.e no 'install' option when you right click on the file.

The pack file needed from codecs is label lame mp3 encoder. The zip file will have the dll named lame_enc in it. Simply copy that file to the virtual dub plug ins area (or similar area). Check program help on how to locate this area. Once copied in, the program will recognize this module.
