I have downloaded FLVSplitter.ax

I have two versions: Release and Unicode.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit.

I have installed the Release version and it seems to work, but have I installed the right version?

Any advice greatfully received.

Thanks

The correct one would be Unicode, but it does not make much difference, unless you want to open files with Unicode filenames.

Thanks for responding.

What is a unicode filename?

Would the unicode version also open the files that the release version opens?

Ps. Any idea why two files, ie, Release and Unicode are supplied?
Do you know what FLVSplitter.ax does?

Unicode allows special characters in file names like Chinese or Cyrillic stuff.
Old versions of Windows (95/98) do not support Unicode, so then you need the Release (ANSI) version.

Why did you download something if you don't know what it is supposed to do?
FLVSplitter allows you to open FLV video files.

Thanks for responding.

I had an old version of FLV Splitter on my machine that ran some flv files in WMP but not others.
Therefore, I decided to upgrade this file and now Windows Media Player plays all my videos.

I use Vista and installed the Release version. It does work.

regarding the opening of flv files in Windows Media Player, I throught that FFDShow contained the codecs. However, it seems that splitter is also needed.

I am still not sure why splitter is needed or its function.

Best wishes.
