removing avi chunk viewer

After installing XP Codec Pack 1.2.1, whenever I press shift with an AVI file selected some program called "AVI Chunk Viewer" pops up. I don't know what this program is and don't particularly care except that it's annoying and has stolen my shift key from me! I've uninstalled the codec pack but the program is still there.

Can someone please help me get rid of it?

You have to uninstall AVI Splitter. See this small guide. Usually, AVI Chunk Viewer pops up when AVI files have a missing footer.

I found what appears to be a fix to get rid of that annoying AVI Chunk Viewer, which appears to come up with certian AVI files when you have the "AVI Splitter" installed. For me, it was installed with the K-Lite codec pack, and can be disabled without uninstalling K-Lite, just use their "Codec Tweak Tool" located under your Start menu's K-Lite Codec Pack\Configuration folder. Scroll down until you see AVI Splitter under 'disable...' section, and check it off (be sure to uncheck the rest that automatically get toggled on when you click AVI Splitter), and that seems to have done it for me (although i have only tested a few files, but they used to make the AVI Chunk Viewer window appear, and no longer do).

There also is a checkbox in the AVI Chunk Viewer window that allows you to prevent it from displaying again.

I have the darn thing popping up every time I even click to select a video file of any kind. I do not have DVD Splitter or DVD2AVI installed yet here it is. It also has no option to turn it off. It has no options at all. All you get is the close X in the corner, there are no other user input options at all. I checked with process explorer and it seems to resolve to some COM Surrogate process. I just want to know where the stupid DLL or EXE file is so I can just blast the thing off my system. So far all it seems to point to is some DLLs in my windows\system32 folder which I know are not right because they have a 2006 file date and I'm running Vista Ultimate which wasn't even out then. The command line image for it seems to be...

C:\Windows\system32\DllHost.exe /Processid:{AB8902B4-09CA-4BB6-B78D-A8F59079A8D5}

With the Path indicating

C:\Windows\system32\DllHost.exe

Anyone know what this thing actually is?
