Im sorry if this annoys anyone but I dont really know much about computers and I have tried everything!
I am trying to play a mpg file I downloaded and windows media player said i was missing the required codec. I was directed to this site and downloaded the one I needed, but I cant seem to install it.
I read "How to install/uninstall DLL and AX codec/filter files" and installed both the 'ax' files, but it wont let me install the vct3216.DLL file. I get a message saying:
"vct3216 was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found"
I also downloaded RadLight Filter manager, but that also brings up an error message when i try to register the file.
Am I going about it all the wrong way!??!
SOrry for being such a drag to everyone who this seems simple to, but Im stuck!

Hey
If you downloaded the VoxWare Audio Codec from free-codecs.com, you should have a zip file called 'VoxWare_MSA_CoDec.zip' after download is complete. Just unzip to a temporary folder.
You will find a "voxacm.inf" file in the directory.
Right-click on it and select "Install".
Note: Restart your computer before and after the installation and close any multimedia applications of course.
Should work

The VoxWare MetaSound Audio CoDec you've installed is to decode that audio format (tag 75) either it is in MPEG, AVI, ASF.....
You won't have problems decoding this type, but other formats (audio/video) need other decoders to play of course. Hopefully you already have the most popular ones.
I would advise don't install codec packs, come here if you can't play anything and we'll try to help
Cheers

okay, I have run into another problem.
I am actualy downloading some of my fav simpsons episodes and the latest one is an .AVI file. I get a message (not the same as the first error msg) saying that windows media cannot play it. It doesnt say I'm missing the required codec, just that it wont play.
Is there no way to make it work??
Again, sorry to be such a pain with silly questions!
xx
